Confronting the White Gaze in Education

The “white gaze” impacts how we view everything: artwork, race, education, even our students. In this workshop, we’ll investigate
works of art from Tacoma Art Museum’s upcoming exhibition, “The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection,” collectively
exploring the lenses that we look through when viewing this art. Then, use the experiences of Tacoma’s youth to create some art of
your own. Practice sharing and observing each other’s ideas without placing extra meaning on them.
