Equity and Inclusion Change Agent
Dane Wolfrom has a Certificate of Strategic D&I from Georgetown and was a contributor to the Human-Centered Inclusive Design project. Pre-covid, Dane ran Metro Parks’ swim teams, which in 2019 had over 600 geographically-representative participants reflecting Tacoma’s census in both ethnicity and socioeconomics.
One characteristic of privilege is those who hold it do not see the destructive ways in which they impact others. When incidents occur, organizations often focus on the actions and words of perpetrators while undervaluing the impact to victims. In this interactive session, we will discuss the benefits of shifting focus from intention to impact, and introduce you to a process for roadmapping organizational training strategies.
What are youth passionate about? How can we draw upon these passions to connect youth to learning? How can we connect them to their communities? Educators and Coaches strive to help students engage with education through their own passions. During this session, participants will use a human-centered design project to discuss these questions and to explore ways to support youth in their education and connect them to their communities.
