Washington Student Achievement Council
Gray Sterling is an Assistant Director of Policy and Planning at the Washington Student Achievement Council. In this role he has worked across critical higher education policy areas of affordability, enrollment, student supports, and completion. Gray’s current portfolio of work includes efforts in reengaging stopped-out learners, state financial aid, prison education and reentry support, childcare access and availability, as well as stakeholder engagement and partnership development. In each of these areas he has been a driving force and vocal advocate for the integration of equity into the work and prioritization of students of color as foundational to the agency’s mission to increase educational attainment in the state. Prior to Gray’s work with WSAC he spent time with Stand for Children as a policy intern researching high-performing low-income school districts in Washington State, and served as a legislative intern in the U.S. Senate focused on federal education, and healthcare policies.
